Camera and Internal Storage

The ZTE V5 comes with a 13 MP auto focus Sony Exmor RS camera at the rear which gets coupled with LED flash, f/2.2 aperture and 5 element lens. This capable primary camera is accompanied by a 5 MP front facing selfie camera that is teamed up with 88 degree wide angle lens to capture a wider selfie frame and BSI sensor for better quality.  Though the performance of this camera set will be known only after our hands-on, the aspects sound impressive considering its pricing and make it a selfie focused smartphone. There is a default storage space of 4 GB that is pretty annoying as the 4 GB storage capacity is getting faded away these days with entry-level offering packing 8 GB of storage. However, the ZTE phone features an expansion micro SD card slot supporting up to 32 GB additional storage.

Processor and Battery

Under the hood is a 1.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor that is supplemented by Adreno 305 graphics unit to render decent graphics performance and 1 GB of RAM for a moderate multi-tasking experience. The battery unit responsible for energizing the ZTE V5 is a 2,400 mAh one which is believed to pump in a decent backup to the handset. Usually, only a few offerings in this market segment arrive with such capable batteries with increased capacity and hence, this one appears to be a decent one for its pricing.

Display and Features

The display unit of the ZTE smartphone is a 5 inch IPS OGS screen with DragonTrail Glass. It packs in a HD resolution of 1280×720 pixels that renders a good pixel density of 293 pixels per inch. The IPS display will render good viewing angles and color reproduction, while the OGS panel will eradicate additional layers for a thinner and more responsive screen and the Dragontrail Glass will make the screen six times stronger than the usual glass displays. Fueled by Android 4.4.2 KitKat customized with Nubia 2.0 interface, the ZTE V5 features 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and dual SIM functionality. There is a secondary microphone on the handset to enable noise cancellation.

Comparison

The ZTE V5 with the aforementioned specifications and pricing will be a competitor to the Asus Zenfone 5, Karbonn Titanium S19, Lava Iris X5 , Xonphone 5 and others.

Price and Conclusion

The ZTE V5 is priced attractively at Rs 10,999 that can make it compete with the other smartphones in the same bracket. Given its pricing the handset comes packed with impressive specifications that are good on paper, while their performance has to be analyzed. The handset takes advantage of its good display, impressive camera set, capable processor and decent battery. The only downside is its low internal storage space of 4 GB that makes it lag behind in terms of competition in the current market scenario when offering such as Xonphone 5 arrive with 16 GB of storage capacity.
