New YouTube UI for Mobile App Users

Changes to App Design: The navigation tabs of the app have now been moved to the bottom. This makes it easier to navigate with just the thumbs. Keeping in mind that modern day smartphones tend to feature large displays, this change to the YouTube UI is a good move. Video Gestures: An upcoming feature which will allow the users to switch between the next and previous videos by swiping over the video. Playback Speed: Users of YouTube’s desktop website get to fast forward or slow down the video playback – a feature which is now live on the YouTube mobile app too. Adapting to Video Size: No matter what orientation and resolution a video is shot at, the YouTube mobile app will automatically adjust to adapt to the size of the video.

New YouTube UI for Desktop Users

The YouTube UI for desktop users too, has been redesigned. In it’s blog post, YouTube states that they have now introduced the material design style to the website. It offers a fresh and simple, easy to use interface. One of the highlights of the new YouTube UI for desktop users is the ‘Dark Theme’ which turns the background black, offering the users a more cinematic experience.

Finally, the iconic YouTube logo too has been redesigned.  As seen in the GIF image above, the portion under the red box has now come out, and the red box now encapsulates a triangular ‘play’ logo. This is a very ‘2017’ design from YouTube and is indeed a welcome change. Do you like this change to the YouTube app, website and logo? Comment below and let us know!   Source: YouTube Blog
