Xolo is doing a good job bringing some fresh new technology in a market flooded with rebranded Chinese phones, most with the same hardware. What makes it more interesting is the price point at which Xolo brings these devices; very much in the ‘budget’ category. The Xolo X910 is a knocked down version of the previously launched X900, and apart from that there is no other competitor in the Indian market which sports Intel-backed hardware. So, let us go ahead with the quick review!
Camera:
The X910 has a 5 megapixel rear shooter backed by autofocus and LED flash. Xolo has always been active with cameras, we saw in many phones where Xolo had a BSI (Back Illuminated) cameras which were more than just decent performers. The predecessor, the Xolo X900 had an 8 megapixel sensor which was pretty decent, and the same would be expected of the 5 megapixel unit on the X910. Since the X910 comes with a better processor, buyers will have to compromise on other aspects like cameras, since Mediatek based phones are now coming up with 8-12 megapixel cameras.
Processor and Battery:
This is where the X910 rules the roost; this is by far the only phone in the sub-10k range in the Indian market which comes with an Intel processor. It is an Intel Atom processor with a frequency of 1.6Ghz which powers this phone, basically turns it into a beast. The very processor is also used in some netbooks running Windows, so you can imagine how powerful the processor is. That is not it, the chipset also has a 400MHz GPU embedded into it, which makes it a very powerful gaming rig. Considering the price point, it is one of the best phones in the market today, and should provide for excellent processing power as well as more than decent multitasking. Xolo have gone with a 2000mAh battery which, although is not among the best, is not very bad either. The battery should have enough juice to take you through an entire work day – by work day we mean 8-10 hours of moderate to heavy usage.
Display Type & Size:
The device sports a 4.3 inch IPS (In Panel Switching) display. IPS is a technology which allows excellent viewing angles, often upto 178 degrees, in theory. The 4.3 inch panel comes with a qHD resolution of 906×540, which means there will be a pixel density of 256ppi, about the average for todays phones. Unfortunately there are not many Intel-powered options for people looking for big displays – you can however choose from a range of Mediatek based devices, there are quite a few which come with 5+ inch displays, for example Gionee Gpad 2, etc.
Key Features And Specifications
Conclusion And Price
We would give the X910 a thumbs up for the fact that it comes with an Intel processor at a very affordable price. Not only the processor, Xolo is also known for the good build quality on their phones, so the X910 should make a very nice phone for moderate as well as heavy usage. Although quad core phones are available at this price range, we think that the Intel Atom will prove to be a better processor all round. The X910 can be bought for 9,999 INR on Flipkart.
