Camera and Internal Storage

The Xolo phone incorporates an 8 MP rear shooter with Exmor R sensor, dual LED flash, f/2.0 aperture and support for full HD 1080p video recording. The front 2 MP shooter will suffice in clicking selfies and making video calls. Internal storage is standard at 8 GB with option of further expanding it by another 32 GB using a micro SD card. This should suffice for most users to store all the necessary content on the smartphone.

Processor and Battery

The processor used is a MediaTek MT6582 quad-core unit clocked at 1.3 GHz. This processor is found in many mid-range smartphones and it should be capable of rendering a decent performance. The chipset is coupled with 1 GB RAM that should be enough for smooth multitasking and Mali 400 MP2 graphics unit for moderate graphic handling. Battery capacity is 2,800 mAh and though the backup it can pump is not known, it is believed to be sufficient enough for the smartphone to last for a day under moderate usage.

Display and Features

The display is a large 5.5 inch IPS panel boasting HD 1280×720 pixel resolution. This screen is made strong with the incorporation of Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection to prevent scratches and damage owing to everyday usage. With Android 4.4 KitKat operating system, Xolo Q2100 comes packed with connectivity features such as 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and USB OTG for easy file transfer. One of the highlights of the handset is the implementation of an IR Blaster that makes it double as a universal remote. Another aspect is the fingerprint scanner that is used to securely unlock the device. The handset is also pre-installed with the LastPass app that will store all the passwords and provide access to them only when the fingerprint matches.

Comparison

The Xolo Q2100 will be a tough challenger to Swipe Sense, iBerry Auxus Note 5.5, Obi Octopus S520 and other devices.

The Xolo Q2100 priced at Rs 13,499 has mid-range specifications that are not so exceptional, but the handset features some impressive features including fingerprint scanner and IR Blaster that aren’t as common in budget devices. These features, though not fully evolved, definitely add premium feel the Xolo phone and make it stand up against the competition adding uniqueness to the mid-ranger.
