Like most others, if you too are looking for a phablet and have shortlisted the XOLO Q2000 (Quick Review) and Q3000 (Quick Review), read on to know what we think.
Hardware
Display
In an age when everyone wants large screen phones, XOLO are playing it safe. Both the Q2000 and the Q3000 come with screens larger than 5 inches in size. While the Q2000 comes with a 5.5 inch one, the Q3000 comes with an even bigger, 5.7 inch screen. However, Q3000 being the newer between the two, comes with a better resolution. The Q3000 packs a full HD, i.e., 1920 x 1080p resolution as opposed to an HD (1280 x 720p) resolution on the Q2000. Also, from what we can make from the renders, the Q3000 seems to have a thinner bezel which should make the footprint of the device quite comparable to that of the Q3000.
Camera and Storage
Both devices feature 13MP rear cameras. What’s more, these 13MP shooters on both devices are BSI – II enabled, and should perform better than non-BSI ones in low-light situations. This makes both devices even on the main camera segment, however, there’s a little difference on the front. Since selfies are getting more and more popular, front cameras are becoming better with every generation. The Q2000 comes with a 2MP front snapper, while the Q3000 comes with a 5MP; the latter will serve you as a better selfie camera. The Q3000 comes with 16GB on-board ROM, while the Q2000 comes with 8GB. While both can be expanded using microSD, going for the one with greater storage perhaps makes more sense on devices like these.
Processor and Battery
As you would expect, both these devices from XOLO are powered by processors from Taiwanese biggie MediaTek. Both feature variants of the hugely successful MT6589 quad core chipset. While the Q2000 comes with the regular 1.2GHz version, the Q3000 features the faster and more powerful Q3000, which is naturally needed to drive the full HD screen. There’s a difference in amount of RAM as well; the Q3000 features 2GB which is exactly the double of what the Q2000 features, so you can expect quite a better performance on the Q3000. One thing great with the Q3000 is the battery, which rated at 4000mAh sometimes sounds too good to be true. On the other hand, the Q2000 features a much smaller 2600mAh unit.
Conclusion
If budget permits, you should definitely go for the Q3000 for the slightly larger screen, better processor and much better battery. The 5MP front camera and more powerful GPU should be considered too, which will make you a bit more future proof in this world of changing technologies.
