Camera and Internal Storage

The Xolo A700s is given a standard 5 MP primary snapper that is coupled with LED flash and BSI Sensor for better low light photography experience and HD 720p video recording capability. Furthermore, the device also incorporates a VGA front-facing camera that is capable of making basic video calls. While there is nothing out-of-the-box in the imaging department, it appears to be worthy enough for a stiff competition with its rivals that are also priced similarly. Internal storage is the average 4 GB space that can be further expanded to 32 GB using a micro SD card. This is nothing new as the other entry-level phones also come bundled with such low 4 GB storage capacity only.

Processor and Battery

The SoC used in the Xolo phone is a MediaTek 6572 chipset that houses a 1.3 GHz dual-core processor for decent performance. This processor is clubbed with 395 MHz Mali 400 graphics engine to handle the gaming requirements of users and 1 GB of RAM for efficient multi-tasking. Battery capacity is 1,800 mAh, which sounds moderate considering the specifications of the handset. This battery capacity remains on par with that in the rival smartphones making it a standard aspect.

Display and Features

The A700s boasts of a 4.5 inch IPS display that carries a qHD screen resolution packing 960×540 pixels. This totals to a decent pixel density of 245 pixels per inch that should be enough for basic tasks such as watching videos, browsing the net and playing games. Fueled by Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, the dual SIM Xolo A700s packs a slew of standard connectivity features such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0, GPS and 3G.

Comparison

Xolo A700s will be a stiff challenger for the devices including Moto E, Micromax Unite 2 A106 and Asus Zenfone 4.5.

Price and Conclusion

The Xolo A700s seems overpriced at Rs 7,299 as it comes packed with moderate specifications. The handset takes advantage of its hardware with a good processor and improved camera set. However, the entry-level smartphone market is witnessing more and more Android 4.4 KitKat based offerings and hence, the Xolo A700s lags behind in terms of software. We hope that the vendor will be rolling out the update to this handset in future.
