The device has already received 3C certification. After the certifications, it is now revealed that there will be two variants of the phone. Both these models will be differentiated by the processor. For certification, the Redmi Note 5 has been cleared with two names, i.e. MEE7S and MET7S.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Expected Specifications

Starting with the display, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 is expected to feature a 5.99 inch IPS LCD panel with full HD+ resolution and a modern 18:9 aspect ratio. This also means that it will be a taller phone and to make it sleeker, the company may minimize the bezels as well. In terms of optics, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 is tipped to feature dual rear cameras. In the leaked image too, the dual cameras can be seen near the centre of the back. The rear camera could have 16MP primary sensor coupled with a 5MP secondary sensor. On the front, the device is expected to sport a single 8MP selfie camera, which will be an upgrade from the previous generation phones. Talking about the hardware now, the phone is tipped to come in two variants. The base variant is expected to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 processor while the premium variant may be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 SoC. Also, there will be storage difference with the base variant getting a 3GB/32GB combination and the premium variant coming with a 4GB/64GB combo. Both variants are expected to run on Android 7.0 Nougat based MIUI 9 out-of-the-box.
