The device was initially planned to be unveiled at this year’s Mobile World Congress, however, it didn’t materialize. Now latest reports hint that it will hit the market on 16th April. In context: Xiaomi Mi5 launched on 24th February 2016.

Xiaomi Mi 6 Specifications

According to the leaks, the Xiaomi Mi 6 comes with a 5.2-inch 2.5D Full HD (1080 x 1920 pixels) IPS LCD panel. An underclocked Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 CPU along with Adreno 540 GPU may power this device. It runs on Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box with MIUI on the top.

In terms of optics, it may house a 19MP sensor on the back, which can shoot slow-motion videos in 720P. On the front, it may use an 8MP selfie snapper. In the memory department, the device will be launched in three variants: 4GB RAM and 32GB ROM, 4GB RAM and 64GB ROM, and 6GB RAM and 128GB ROM. The top variant may come with the ceramic body like one found on Xiaomi Mi Mix.

Pricing and Availability

If the leaks turn out to be true, Xiaomi will just upgrade the specifications instead of trying any fancy features like edge screens, ultrasonic fingerprint sensor etc. The basic variant will be reportedly priced at $320 or Rs. 22,550 approx. The cost of the high-end ceramic variant may go upto $380 or Rs 26,500. We are a bit concerned about using an underclocked Snapdragon 835 on Xiaomi Mi6, as the company received severe backlash for launching Xiaomi Mi5 with an underclocked Qualcomm Snapdragon 820. However, we have to wait till the official launch to know whether Xiaomi repeats the same mistake or not. Till then, stay tuned to our website for more updates and leaks on the phone.
