Why You Should Wait for Xiaomi Mi 6 to Come to India

High-end Specifications

One of the major advantages of the Xiaomi Mi 6 is remarkable specifications. It is truly a flagship smartphone from almost every aspect. From being one of the first devices to sport the ultra-powerful Snapdragon 835 chipset, till the standard 6 GB LPDDR4X RAM in every variant, the Mi 6 has it all.

Dual Camera

This is where Xiaomi’s latest flagship even puts the Galaxy S8 to shame. The dual 12 MP lens of the Mi 6 boasts tons of features. Spec-wise, it is a lot similar to the Apple iPhone 7 Plus. Out of the two 12 MP camera’s one is a normal snapper while the other one is a telephoto unit. Combined they bring on 2X optical zoom and 10X digital zoom.

The Mi 6 also boasts 4-axis OIS (Optical Image Stabilization), which already shows its skills in the Xiaomi Mi 5.

Top Notch Display

Yes, the Mi 6 still comes with a similar 5.15-inch Full HD display like the Mi 5, but there are a lot of improvements in it. The IPS LCD panel rocks some sort of anti-glare technology which should control the additional glare that most 2.5D screens suffer from. This combined with 600 nits of peak brightness, the phone will look elegant even under broad daylight. With a minimum brightness of just 1 nit, the display would please your eyes under low light. Such is its gentleness on the human eye, that it has even obtained a certificate from the National Eye Centre of China. The comparatively small size of the screen not only helps to keep the size of Mi 6 handy but also leaves a seat empty for the Xiaomi Mi Note 3.

Design, Stereo Speakers, Splash Resistance

The Xiaomi Mi 6 is a wee-designed smartphone. Its stainless steel frame combined with four-sided 3D curved glass back delivers an eye candy. The phone will be available in three normal color options namely White, Black, and Blue. There will be a more premium ceramic black variant too with 18K gold plated camera and antenna lines. A limited edition silver Mi 6 is also in the works.

Another notable aspect of the phone is its stereo speaker setup. The earpiece of the phone also doubles up as a loudspeaker. This mated with the dedicated speakers in the bottom of the handset delivers a pleasuring stereo effect. Xiaomi also claims the Mi 6 to be splash resistance. It means that the smartphone will be able to survive occasional or accidental contact with water. This seems to be similar to what Motorola offers in their devices. Even though the Mi 6 does not sport an IPxx certification like the Galaxy S8, still, something is better than nothing right?

Rivals Samsung Galaxy S8, Costs Almost Half of It

If you go through the specifications of the Xiaomi Mi 6, you will find that there are no smartphones that can compete with it other than the Samsung Galaxy S8. Yes, the Sony Xperia XZ Premium is there, but it won’t hit the shelves until June 2017. So, how does the Mi 6 fare against the Galaxy S8? The most important advantage of Xiaomi’s latest handset is that it costs almost half of Samsung’s finest smartphone. With a starting price of 2499 Yuan (Rs. 23,500 approx.) in China, the Indian price of the Mi 6 is expected to be somewhere between Rs. 24,000 to RS. 27,000. On the other hand, Samsung launched the Galaxy S8 here for Rs. 57,900. Talking of specifications, both the smartphones pack a full-fledged version of the Snapdragon 835 SoC. The Mi 6 surpasses the Galaxy S8 in terms of RAM and camera. The former boasts 6 GB of LPDDRX RAM, while the latter has 4 GB only. Regarding the camera, the dual lens setup of Xiaomi’s handset does sound better at least on paper. The Mi 6 has a bigger battery too. The Super AMOLED infinity display of the Galaxy S8 certainly much better than that of Mi 6. Another thing where the former scores are the presence of the 3.5 mm headphone jack, which the latter lacks.

Conclusion

India is now Xiaomi’s most important market after China. So, we won’t be surprised if the company brings the Mi 6 here within a couple of months. So it is completely worth if you wait for it. Or else you may even import the phone from China. However, that will cost you a price premium. Moreover, you won’t get any warranty or support for it in India.
