Overpriced Deals

There is not much discount on phones you would want to buy. In fact some are selling for higher than the best buy available.

HTC Desire 820 is selling for 21,924 INR on Snapdeal with GOSF discount, but the same is available for 21,724 on Flipkart without GOSF subsidy. HTC Desire 820 is not an exception but one among 100’s of other such tasteless deals.

Since we actively keep track of gadget prices, none of these offers seems particularly enticing. Even in cases of good deals, the difference in prices isn’t significant enough if you compare it to true usual selling price and not the maximum launch price.

Most Discount on things you wouldn’t want to Buy

The discounts are listed on MRP values, which is already significantly more than the retail price. The maximum discount is on products which are already several months old and which you won’t be inclined to buy in spite of the discount.

MTS Blaze 4.5 is listed with 54 percent discount and is selling for 4,999 INR (initially launched for 10,000 INR). This can be misleading because most stores are selling it for almost the same price.

Coupons

Most coupons which we have tried come with a catch. We strongly advise you to go through terms and conditions before you go through a deal. Paytm is offering 50 percent cash back on all recharges, but if you attempt to try this, you won’t be able to as its only for new users. If you attempt from a new account, you would also need a card which you haven’t used earlier. I didn’t go any further but it is expected that there will be further restrictions. We did manage to lay our hands on some beneficial coupons but none came without a catch.

You will end up buying what you don’t need

Trying to hunt for the perfect deal, there are more changes of you buying one of the several products with apparent discounts, which you don’t need in the first place. This is more relevant to accessories and products from lesser known brands which appear to sport maximum value deals. Our views are mainly based on our experience with gadget deals. In this particular area, we don’t notice anything revolutionary. Yes, you can save a few bucks here and there and since Google is the sponsor, there are some subsidies as well, but nothing to hold your breath for.  To glance at all deals and offers at one place, you can visit official GOSF page.
