Vivo has already said that the first in-display fingerprint scanner smartphone will be launched in early 2018. Now, it seems the phone is to be launched very soon. The new Vivo X20 Plus UD comes with similar specifications with the original X20 Plus that was launched back in September in China. If we talk about the in-display fingerprint scanner technology, Vivo is using an optical fingerprint sensor made by Synaptics. The in-display fingerprint scanner lets users unlock their smartphone through one-touch directly on the smartphone display. At the CES announcement, Vivo said that its in-display fingerprint technology performs better than other authentication solutions available for full-screen smartphones.
Vivo X20 Plus UD specifications
The Vivo X20 Plus features a 6.43 inch full HD+ (2160 x 1080 pixels) Super AMOLED display with 18:9 aspect ratio. The display also has Fingerprint sensor embedded in it. The dual SIM phone runs on Funtouch OS 3.2 based on Android 7.1.1 Nougat.
The device is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor clubbed with Adreno 512 GPU. Memory wise, it will pack 4GB RAM with 64GB internal memory which is expandable up to 256GB via a microSD card. In the camera department, the Vivo X20 Plus packs a dual rear camera setup with a 12MP primary camera with LED flash, f/1.8 aperture, OIS and a secondary 5MP camera. Up front, there is a 12MP front-facing camera with soft LED flash and f/2.0 aperture. Connectivity options on the device include 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 ac (2.4 GHz + 5 GHz), Bluetooth 5.0, GPS. It also supports 3.5mm audio jack and ES9318 DAC. The phone packs 3800mAh battery and comes with fast charging support.
Pricing and Availability
The Vivo X20 Plus UD is expected to be priced at 3,698 Yuan (US$ 573 / Rs. 36,700 approx.). It will come in Gold, Rose Gold, Black with Gold and Matte Black color options. It is rumored to be introduced in China later this month and there is no word on its availability in other countries.
