Physical Overview

Vivo V5 comes in a very neat and clean design. It also looks quite good with use of premium materials and unibody design. It features a metal body, a 13 MP camera with LED flash and a fingerprint sensor at the front which also doubles up as a home button. The slim profile and rounded corners makes it really easy to hold in hands. The front of the phone features the 5.5 inch HD IPS LCD display with 2.5D curved display. Just above the display, you will find the circular ear piece, a 20MP front camera with a moonlight flash and the ambient light sensor.

The bottom of the phone contains the home button which also acts as a fingerprint sensor. The phone comes touch capacitive navigation buttons.

Towards the top, you will find the primary camera module and LED flash is situated just beside the camera. In the between there is a Vivo branding

On the bottom, there is absolutely nothing apart from some information about the device.

The right side of the phone you will find the volume rockers and the power button

On the bottom, it houses the 3.5 mm headphone jack, primary mic, micro-USB port and the speaker grill.

Vivo V5 Display

The Vivo V5 features a 5.5 inch LCD IPS HD (720 x 1280p) resolution display with 2.5D curved glass and is protected by Gorilla Glass 3. The display has the pixel density of 267 PPI. The display is bright and colour reproduction is good. You won’t find any pixelation with the naked eyes and the viewing angles are also good.

Camera Overview

The Vivo V5 features a 13 MP primary camera with autofocus and LED flash. The camera has been improved as compared to its predecessors. However the performance is just decent, the camera performed good in natural light and the pictures came out to be quite sharp and detailed. In low light it struggles a bit with lack of detail and noise in the images. You can record up to 1080p videos at 30 FPS using the rear camera. On the front, you get a 20MP camera with with moonlight flash for amazing selfies and video calling. The company claims that the moonlight flash will reduce strain on user’s eyes while taking pictures. Another great thing about the front camera is that it does not overexpose your photos with light, which saves the background from getting lost into darkness.

Conclusion

This phone has a good build quality, a decent display and impressive camera. VIVO also has a good after sales support so the quality is the best you can expect. The overall set of specification is good but not the best although the 20MP selfie cam is rare to see in this price segment. A full-HD display and a better processor would have been better for this price. So if you are the one who clicks lots of selfies and wants a good looking device then you won’t be disappointed by this phone. Although at this price, Lenovo Zuk Z2 and Le Max 2 are going to be tough competition for this device. Let’s not forget this devices is targeted for offline markets, so it will be unfair to compare it with only online phones.
