Build Quality, Design and Form Factor

Spice Dream Uno looks quite simple in terms of design, it’s a good one handed usage phone with 4.5 inch display and rubberized matte finish back cover makes it easy to hold and great to be used with one hand. It does not feel very heavy and also its not a thinnest phone but less than 1 Cm in thickness.

Camera Performance

The rear 5 MP camera has autofocus and HD video recording at 1080p and 720p. It gave us decent shots in low light or artificial light but in day light camera quality was really good. The front camera performance is also good, being a fixed focus camera it can still do HD video recording at 720p. Camera Samples

Display, Memory and Battery Backup

It has 4.7 IPS LCD display which gives you good viewing angles and sunlight visibility is also good. It has 480 x 854 resolution and the pixel density is such that you wont see pixels mostly in day to day usage apps, browsing looks good even with website which has good amount of text. You get 4 Gb of in built memory out of which around 2.2 GB is available to the user but for installing heavy games and apps you will need to insert an SD card inside which does not come in the package. You can get around 1 day of backup with strict moderate usage and on continuous usage if you play games or watch a video you can around 3-4 hours of backup from the device.

Software, Benchmarks and Gaming

Software is the most fluid and responsive on this device as it provides you the vanilla stock android experience of android to you with all google apps for everything whether you like it or not. The default gallery app is replaced with google photos app and similarly you have all google apps for different things, but there is no file manager on this device so you will need to download the same from play store as you need it. It has Mali 400 GPU for gaming which can play most of the HD game but you need to have storage for the same, you cannot install apps on SD card and you can only some part of the app data on the SD card not the entire app. Benchmark Scores

Sound, Video and Navigation

Sound is quite loud from loudspeaker while playing videos but loudspeaker gets blocked when you place the device on a table on its back flat. You can play some HD videos on 720p but you will need third party apps like MX Player for the same. GPS navigation works fine and it can lock coordinates in outdoor pretty quickly.

Conclusion and Price

Spice Dream Uno is one of the best android one phone at Rs. 6399 at which it is retailing on flipkart. Some good things about the phone are smooth User Interface with no or minor lags even on heavy usage. The rear and front camera both can record HD video which is major advantage at this price point. The major downside is the low battery which does a decent job in terms of backup at times but could have been higher in terms of power rating.
