As the first phase, the KitKat update was rolled out for high-end models such as Xperia Z1, Z Ultra and Z1 Compact in March and now it appears to be turn of the aforementioned devices to receive the update. Last week, leaked information suggested that the latest offerings such as Xperia T2 Ultra, Xperia M2 and Xperia E1 will receive the KitKat update starting from July. However, it has to be noted that the update will be rolled out in phases depending on the region and carrier. The Android v4.4 KitKat update will definitely add a slew of enhancements to the Sony smartphones. Some of the notable ones include the performance and UI optimizations, more intuitive and customizable Status bar and quick settings. The handsets will also receive the latest versions of Sony’s native apps such as new messaging app with UI adjustments and deeper Emoji support. Also, it will bring about some changes on email wherein users can both load and see more emails, responsive viewing window and split screen modes. Further additions include a Smart Social Camera that comes with select Xperia Camera apps and compatibility between smartphones and SmartBand SWR10 and Lifelog applications. Other features worth mentioning include enhanced Battery STAMINA Mode for smarter power management, new Xperia Themes and Sony’s Media apps.
