Sony took a bold approach with Xperia Z Ultra last year embedding an extra large 6.4 Inch full HD supersensitive display (which also improved on other Z series displays at the time), but that failed to ring the cash registers perhaps because of the tablet like form factor.
Sony Xperia Z Ultra is powered by 2.2 GHz quad core Snapdragon 800 SoC backed by 2 GB RAM and 16 GB native storage, expandable by another 64 GB. To maintain a slim profile (which is mandatory to make large form factor manageable), Sony used an 8 MP rear sensor without LED flash and 2 MP front shooter each capable of full HD video recording.
The phone is dust and water resistance certified and has been confirmed for Android 5.0 Lollipop upgrade. Other features include 3050 mAh battery, USB OTG, Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi, GPRS, etc.
