Reasons To Buy The Samsung Z2
Dual SIM 4G with VoLTE
Considering the phones in this price range, there are no other phone that has VoLTE support. Although you can find other 4G phones like Xolo Era 4G, Infocus m370i but they are not ready for VoLTE support.
Storage expandable up to 128GB
While the internal storage on Samsung Z2 is quite average at 8GB, Samsung has no room for error by giving a microSD slot that supports up to 128Gb of memory cards. Phones under Rs. 5,000 usually offer 32GB of expandable storage or 64GB at max, but Z2 just gave you a reason to consider it.
Good one-handed usage
Samsung has not done any unnecessary inclusion in the design department this time, and the phone looks decent for the price. It has got curved back like you see on Galaxy S6 or Note 5 but this one has plastic in place of glass. The 4inch display size makes it very hand and it feels very lightweight too. So if you like handy phones then you will surely like this design.
Get Reliance Jio Preview Offer
Samsung has given you one more reason to buy the Z2 if you are looking for a good smartphone under 5K. As announced, Samsung Z2 customers can avail the Jio Preview offer. Jio Preview Offer gives you free access to Relaince Jio services like Jio On Demand, Jio Beats along with unlimited data, calling and SMS for 90 days.
Supports USB OTG
Unlike the other budget devices, the Samsung Z2 offers another unusual feature if compared to the competitors. It comes with support for USB OTG, which is an added solution if you like to store a lot of songs or movies on your phone. It’s really a plus to have this feature on top of 128GB microSD card support.
Reasons Not To Buy The Samsung Z2
WVGA Display
While most of the phones come with at least a IPS HD display at bigger sizes, the Samsung Z2 has a 4inch WVGA (480×800 pixels) display. It is a decent display if you look at the price but the competition is fierce when it comes to displays. Phones like Canvas Spark 3 has 5.5inch HD display. Colors and sharpness is fine on this panel but the viewing angles were not up to the mark.
1500 mAh battery
One of the most important area where Samsung could have done better is the battery capacity. We won’t mind a little bulk on the phone if it lasts at least an hour more. But Samsung says that this battery is enough to run 4G for 8 hours and we are going to test that for sure. It can be possible as Tizen is a light OS and 4inch TFT won’t eat much of the battery. But the average battery capacity among the competitors is 2500mAh.
No Android
This phone comes with the latest version of Samsung’s own Tizen OS. We have seen it before in several budget devices from Samsung but it has still not left its mark compared to Android. So if software is one of your concerns, then Tizen may not be the best one for you. Every other phone in the range has Android Lollipop running, in fact the Infocus M370i comes with Marshmallow at 4,999. A lot of apps are still not found on Tizen phones, although you’ll get all the basic apps like Facebook, WhatsApp and Twitter for sure.
Too much bloatware
Samsung Z2 comes with just 8GB of internal storage and has almost half the memory occupied with bloatware apps. Out of 8GB, users will get access to approximately 4.7GB of internal storage for apps and data. The pre-loaded apps include OLX, NDTV, Twitter, Reddit and more from Samsung.
