The touchscreen and display issue has been reported by some users on platforms like Reddit, XDA Developers forum, and Samsung‘s own forum as well. As per some of the users, the issue ranges from failed touchscreen inputs to dead spots on the display. Some users were able to resolve the issue after a factory reset of the phone, while some could resolve that by turning up the touch sensitivity. Samsung has acknowledged and responded to the user complaints and is looking into the matter. We will have to wait until the company confirms whether this is a software or hardware issue. It is also unclear whether this is a widespread issue or it is affecting only a limited number of people. However, Samsung claims that the reports are limited in number. “We are looking into a limited number of reports of Galaxy S9/S9 Plus touchscreen responsiveness issues. We are working with affected customers and investigating. We encourage any customer with questions to contact us directly at 1-800-SAMSUNG,” Samsung’s statement reads. Samsung Galaxy S9 phones are not the first flagships that have faced touchscreen issues. The display issues had earlier affected other flagship phones like the Pixel XL 2 and the iPhone X in the past. Currently, the touchscreen issue on the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus don’t seem that widespread. The Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus are upgraded versions of last year’s Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus. There are not enough changes in terms of outer appearance apart from the fingerprint sensor placement below the rear camera module. Both the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus phones feature edge-to-edge Infinity displays with an aspect ratio of 18.5:9. Also, the latest flagships boast of improvements and features such as the rear cameras getting variable aperture, super slow-motion recording at 960fps, and AR Emoji among others.
