Galaxy F62 Review
Galaxy F62 Unboxing
2021 is the year of removing chargers from the box, but that’s not the case with Galaxy F62 (except the case). The brand new Galaxy F62 comes with a PD charger which is a welcome move from Samsung, but this time you’ll not get a case included in the box. 8GB+128GB- INR 25,999 These are the things the box comes with:

Galaxy F62 Build and Looks
Unlike other budget and mid-range phones available in the market, the Galaxy F62 comes with a plastic back (which is prone to minor scratches), with a laser gradient-like design. Towards the front we get Gorilla Glass 3 Protection, the frame on the sides is made of plastic. Even though it comes with a plastic back, the phone looks quite good from the rear, with a glossy mirror-like finish. At first glance, you’ll feel the camera layout is inspired by iPhone camera design, but taking inspiration has become like a norm of the industry (which is not bad at all). This phone comes with a massive battery which made the phone 9.5mm thick, that’s why Samsung has opted for the plastic back to maintain the weight balance, in our testing, it was noted 218 grams. The phone feels heavy for the 1st time, but with time we get used to it.
Galaxy F62 Display
Galaxy F62 comes with a 6.7″ FHD+ sAMOLED Plus HDR 10 Infinity O Display, which is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. Since it’s an AMOLED panel we do get an Always-on Display (AOD). The panel is vibrant and produces punchy colors, as it supports up to 110% NTSC Color Gamut. The peak brightness is 480 nits (our lux meter test result was 473 lux), which is low as compared to competing phones like Oneplus Nord which can get more bright. But you can see the display on F62 at max brightness while outdoors. Viewing angles are great, F62 also comes with Widevine L1 certification. Sadly, the display comes with a 60Hz panel, we still need to wait for high refresh rate displays in affordable Samsung phones.
Galaxy F62 RAM, Storage, & Price
The Full-On Speedy Galaxy F62 comes with LPDDR4X RAM paired with UFS 3.0 storage to justify the tagline. This is the read and write speed, we got during our speed test. There are 2 variants of Galaxy F62:
6GB RAM + 128GB ROM for ₹23,9998GB RAM + 128 ROM for ₹25,999
There’s also an 8GB RAM + 256GB ROM option which might launch at a later date (we don’t have much information about it as of now). Galaxy F62 also comes with a dedicated SD card slot to further expand the storage if required.
Galaxy F62 Performance
Samsung is doing its best to market the processor of Galaxy F62, and why shouldn’t they? Because this might the first time, we are getting a Flagship chipset on a midrange Samsung phone. Yes, as you might already know (from Samsung’s marketing images), the Galaxy F62 comes with Exynos 9825 which is the same 7nm based chip found in 2019’s Flagship Galaxy Note 10. Which is paired with Mali G76 MP12 GPU. In our testing, we got an AnTuTu score of 3,49,723 which we were not satisfied with, so we ran the test again after using the phone for some time, and this time we got a score of 4,34,680 (which is close to the Note 10’s score). Galaxy F62 comes with all the necessary sensors. We ran the AnTuTu Stress test for 15 mins and the CPU throttled from 60-100% in the beginning and later remained stable (70-80%). The battery drop was not a major one as it went from 32% to 28%, and the temperature went from 30.3 degrees Celsius to 33.6 degrees Celsius. We also ran a dedicated CPU throttling test and we found that the CPU starts throttling after 3 minutes.
Galaxy F62 Software
Galaxy F62 runs on OneUI 3.1 based Android 11 out of the box, which is great. We found out in our Galaxy F62 review that the UI is fast, responsive, and feature-packed. It also comes with some pre-installed apps like, ShareChat, MX TakaTak, Moj, Dailyhunt, PhonePe, Snapchat, Netflix, which can be un-installed. And on top of that, we have MyGalaxy App to bombard your notifications.
Galaxy F62 Audio
Galaxy F62 comes with a single speaker located at the bottom of the phone, which is loud enough to enjoy music streaming (we got a reading of around 95 on our decibel meter). But you’ll miss the dual speaker audio while watching movies or gaming, as the single speaker can easily get blocked during your gaming sessions, thankfully we do get our favorite 3.5mm jack at the bottom.
Galaxy F62 Gaming
Speaking of gaming it can play Call Of Duty Mobile at Very High Graphics and Frame rates up to Max, but you’ll only get up to 60 fps as that’s what displays on F62 can support. In our Galaxy F62 review, when we did gaming for like a 15 minutes stretch, the phone got a bit warm but we didn’t notice any frame drops or major heating.
Galaxy F62 Camera Performance
Taking about the cameras, Galaxy F62 comes with a Quad Camera setup, thankfully we don’t get any 2MP cameras here. Instead, we get a 64MP primary lens which comes with a Sony IMX682 sensor and f/1.8 aperture, accompanied by a 12MP ultrawide lens, a 5MP macro lens, and a 5MP depth sensor. On the front, there is a single 32MP shooter. The primary 64MP camera performs well, as you can see it retains the skin tone color in both normal and portrait mode, the details are really as impressive as well. But when it comes to backlight portraits then it misses out on edge detection, and the skin tone doesn’t come out to be exact. Overall the pictures look good both outdoor and indoors in our initial Galaxy F62 review. The 12MP Ultrawide lens as is supposed to do, lacks details and images look soft. But what’s impressive is the Samsung color science, as we can easily see the individual colors of all the trees in the picture. Night mode performs does a good job, as well. It is supported on both Front and Rear camera, and you can also switch to wide-angle mode if needed. As you can see the front camera results are not as impressive as the rear camera, but it might come in handy if you are in a lowly lit environment. Talking about the 5MP macro lens which comes with fixed focus, so you need to try a bit to get the correct focus. But once we get the focus right, we do get acceptable colorful pictures, which you can share on social media as well. And finally, the 5MP Depth lens performs as a good supporting cast with the main 64MP primary shooter. Moving over to the selfies, the 32MP camera impressed me a lot in our Galaxy F62 review. So we decided to compare it with iPhone 11 Pro, as you can see the selfies in both normal and portrait mode shots looks better on the F62 compared to that of the iPhone. Of course, the iPhone’s retains more details, but it takes a hard time to manage the exposure while still blowing up the sun behind me, which is handled well by the Galaxy F62. If you do share selfies from the F62 on Social media, then I’m sure the comments will pile up asking about “Which phone did you use to click this ?” As far as videos are concerned, the Galaxy F62 supports up to UHD 30fps from both front and rear cameras. We also get super steady mode which automatically switches to Ultrawide lens. But things just don’t stop here as we also get more options like Portrait video, up to 960fps super slo-mo, Night Hyper lapse, and a dedicated Pro video mode as well.
Galaxy F62 Bio-metrics & Security
Just like other modern-day smartphones, we get a fingerprint scanner and face unlock on Galaxy F62, which does the job well. Face Unlock is fast as well, but according to me, Samsung can do better than this, as we can see the lock screen for a second or two before we jump to the home screen. What disappointed me the most was the decision of ditching the In-display fingerprint scanner, and going for the side-mounted fingerprint scanner, that too when using an AMOLED panel. Maybe Samsung wanted to cut some costs to keep the price under control, but this is what it is. For security and privacy, Galaxy F62 comes with Knox 3.7 and The Alt Z Life which was introduced with Galaxy A51 and A71.
Galaxy F62 Connectivity
Samsung hasn’t made any compromise in terms of connectivity, as we get support for Dual Band WIFI, Bluetooth 5.0, and NFC for Samsung Pay. But if you’re wondering if it supports 5G, then it’s “No” as Galaxy F62 supports only 4G bands.
Galaxy F62 Battery Performance
Just like Galaxy M51 “the battery monster” Samsung has packed a 7,000 mAh cell within the Galaxy F62, which will easily last more than 2 days with moderate usage. In our testing, we got the screen on time of 7 hours, with nearly 20% battery left. But as we say “With a big battery, comes faster charging”, we get a 25W PD charger included in the box. Which takes about 1 hour and 50 minutes to refill itself, with the included charger.
In my opinion, Samsung could have included a 45W adapter which they did with the Galaxy Note 10 Plus. But as we saw even the recently launched Galaxy S21 Ultra comes with 25W charging support, that too when the charger is not included in the box. So, we don’t have any option but to live with it.
Galaxy F62 Review: Conclusion
This was all about Galaxy F62 Review. If you were waiting for a Samsung phone which comes with a flagship-grade processor, good cameras, big battery, fast charging, AMOLED display, that too under ₹25,000 then I’ll definitely recommend you Galaxy F62. But if you’re someone who is looking for a 5G phone, with Good cameras, decent battery, slim and light profile, for the same price, then sorry my friend F62 is not made for you, instead, you can look for other options like OnePlus Nord.
