BeingSmart will be basically focusing on budget and mid range smartphones ranging till Rs. 20,000. According to reports, Salman Khan has already selected a Chinese plant which will be manufacturing the smartphones and has also decided the models. All these smartphones will be running on Android platforms with most probably a custom skin on top. These smartphones will compete with Chinese brands like Xiaomi, Vivo, Oppo and also with some Indian Brands like Intex, Micromax and Lava.
Reportedly, Salman Khan is in the process of building an operational managerial team which will be headed by professionals with working experience in MNC’s like Samsung or Micromax. Salman Khan has already tried of getting into smartphone field with some existing OEMs. However it didn’t go very well and interested firms backed off due to very high royalty charges that was being demanded. The BeingSmart smartphones are expected to be sold online initially or through Being Human outlets and will later make its way to offline retail channels. Since India has got a big market of budget and mid range oriented smartphones, BeingSmart smartphones can do good. Apart from this, the other factor that can lead to a good sale of these smartphones is of course that it’s Salman Khan’s own brand and we all know that how huge his fan base in India is. However we still have to wait for the official announcement from the Salman Khan himself about the details of Being Smart venture and it’s future plans.
