The company is all set to launch the JioFiber service across India by December 2018 as per a report by Digit citing a source close to the development. The JioFiber is going to be launched initially in top twenty cities across India including Delhi, Mumbai, Kochi, Bhopal and Chandigarh among others. Reliance Jio wants to establish a wide user base and it is also aiming for a broader rollout of the services.

JioFiber features

The JioFiber installation includes an ONT (Optical Network Termination) Box at home which will also work as a Jio’s router. The ONT will be sourced from Fiber Home and will handle IPTV (Internet Protocol Television) services.

Reliance Jio is also looking to take on the satellite cable networks like Dish TV and Tata Sky. There will be internet and satellite TV cable combo plans which will be revealed later after the official launch of the service. The JioFiber subscribers will also be able to get super-fast Gigabit internet with 1Gbps speeds if they will opt in for special plans. The pricing of the internet plans for JioFiber is still not revealed. Previously, another report came out claiming that the Reliance Jio had begun providing the Fiber to the Home (FTTH) broadband connection in selected markets. The report further claimed that the company was also providing 1.1TB free data at 100Mbps download speeds in the country and the service would soon start to roll out commercially in the second half of this year.
