The OPPO R5 is just 4.85 mm thick and is fitted with a thin 5.2 Inch Super AMOLED display panel with 1920 x 1080p full HD resolution. R5 is powered by 1.5 GHz Snapdragon 615 octa core processor with Adreno 330 GPU paired with 2 GB RAM and 16 GB non expandable storage. Heating is an issue with slim smartphones and to improve thermal efficiency Oppo R5 uses a liquid metal like phase-change material for dissipation of heat. There is a 13 MP rear camera on the back side capable of 4K video recording, which also bestows a more than noticeable camera bump on the rear surface. The 5 MP front camera will suffice for good quality video chat. OPPO has included a 2000 mAh non removable battery inside. This shouldn’t be a problem, because it supports highly desirable VOOC rapid charging, which allows you to charge it to 75 percent in just 30 minutes. Software is Android 4.4 KitKat with Color OS on top. Other features include 4G LTE / 3G, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and NFC. What is missing is microSD card slot and 3.5 mm audio jack. You will have to make do with MicroUSB port headphones like the ones bundled in the box. We liked OPPO R5 in our initial time with the device. Oppo gives big assurances regarding the durability of OPPO R5 in spite of the slim form factor. Its main rival will be upcoming Vivo X5Max which beats it in the slimmest race by just one tenth of a millimeter.
