Design and Display

Oppo R17 Pro comes with a glass design with a multilayered glass back which reflects a beautiful texture on the back. The smartphone sure feels premium in hands, and it fits perfectly in hand. You will not be able to use the entire phone with one hand though. But it feels good to hold it in one hand at least and do some simple tasks.

One the front, the Oppo R17 Pro comes with a 6.4 inches display which is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 6. The display is AMOLED and comes with FHD+ (2340 X 1080) resolution. The display has only one small notch on the top which hardly eats many pixels from the display.

The Oppo R17 Pro weighs about 183 grams, and the smartphone is only 7.9 mm thick at the thickest point as the back panel is curved. Overall the smartphone is well built and feels sturdy. The phone is a bit slippery, but you get a silicon case right into the box to keep it clean.

Camera

The Oppo R17 Pro comes with a three-camera setup at the back with OIS and variable aperture feature. The main sensors in the smartphone are the 12MP sensor with f/1.5 to f/2.4 aperture and the 20MP sensor with f/2.6 aperture size. The smartphone is capable of changing the aperture when taking pictures in low light conditions.

The third camera on the back is called a TOF 3D stereo camera. This sensor is only helpful in the studio lighting feature when taking a portrait picture and while creating 3D models out of an object. The smartphone can record 4K videos at 30fps and FHD at 120 fps. The front-facing camera on Oppo R17 is a 25MP ultra wide sensor with F/2.0 aperture size which takes amazing selfies. The smartphone comes with more features in the camera app including a might mode which takes amazing pictures in low light conditions.

Hardware, Performance, and Features

The Oppo R17 comes with a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 processor which is based on the 10nm manufacturing process. The processor comes with 6GB and 8GB of RAM which is great for multitasking. The storage is 128GB in all variants, and it comes with an option to upgrade the storage via micro SD card.

Coming to some miscellaneous features, the smartphone comes with an in-display fingerprint sensor which is not the fastest we tested so far. The smartphone features the Color OD 5.2 from Oppo which is based on Android 8.0 Oreo and there is no promise for the Android 9 Pie update so far.

Conclusion

The Oppo R17 Pro is a smartphone for the people who want to flaunt the latest features of the smartphone and do not crave for performance. The camera and design of the smartphone worth every single penny you are going to spend on this. But if you need performance only then there are better options available in this price range.
