That said, there are many noticeable changes in the OnePlus 7T that make it a worthy upgrade from its predecessor. Let’s take a look at these changes.
OnePlus 7T Vs OnePlus 7
Design
The OnePlus 7T is slightly taller than OnePlus 7. It measures 160.94mm vertically, while the 7 measured 157.7mm. This is also because of the tall 20:9 aspect ratio display on the 7T. However, the OnePlus 7T is a bit slimmer than the OnePlus 7.
The 7T weighs 190 grams as compared with the OnePlus 7 weighs 182 grams. But because of the balanced form factor, the 7T still feels not so much heavy when you hold the two together.
On the back. it may look the same design with the large circular camera bump but the camera module is now circular and also the glass back is frosted which is less glossy than earlier. Upfront, it has the familiar face from the OnePlus 7.
Display
Though the display looks similar on both the phones but there is big difference. The 7T gets the 90Hz refresh rate feature just like the OnePlus 7 Pro, something the OnePlus 7 doesn’t have. The display is also a bit tall this time. The 90Hz and HDR 10+ are two features that make 7T’s screen a lot smoother. However, you may not instantly feel its smoothness but as you use the default 60Hz, you’ll immediately have that feeling.
Camera
In the camera department, the OnePlus 7T really takes over the OnePlus 7. Instead of 48MP dual cameras on OP 7, this time around, there are a 12-megapixel telephoto camera and a 16-megapixel ultra-wide camera accompanying the 48MP sensor. With the ultra-wide and telephoto camera, you will not only get more feature for your photos like macro shots and 2x zoom but also the colors look great.
Processor
Under the hood, the 7T gets Snapdragon 855 Plus processor which has the same Kryo 485 CPUs and Adreno 640 GPU. However, its one core is clocked at 2.96GHz in comparison to the 2.84GHz on SD 855. Also, the GPU clock speed has been increased by 15 percent to 672MHz compared to 585MHz earlier. The real-world usage between a phone running the SD 855+ and a phone running the SD 855 would be negligible and these changes can only be seen on benchmarks scores.
Software
The 7T comes with the Android 10 based OxygenOS 10 which gives it an extra push towards being an updated phone. However, OnePlus is one of those few companies that are so quick with Android updates. And, OnePlus 7 is also getting the Android 10 update.
Battery and Fast Charging
The OnePlus 7T also has one big change in terms of fast charging. It has a slightly bigger battery than OP7 but the Warp Charge 30T is the new addition to the package. It is 18 percent faster than Warp Charge 30 which came with OP 7 Pro. The OnePlus 7, on the other hand, comes with only 20W Dash Charging.
Wrapping Up
I don’t know how OnePlus can justify the arrival of the 7T as an upgrade just a few months after the OnePlus 7. Those who bought a OnePlus 7 a few weeks ago, would surely be angered, especially knowing the upgrades that come with the 7T. Despite spending the money to own the latest flagship phone, the arrival of the 7T makes them feel that their phone is not the ‘latest’ anymore.
