Design and Display
OnePlus has upgraded the OnePlus 6‘s display a notch (there’s your pun) with an even higher screen to body ratio. The display is a bit bigger this time with an even smaller notch on the top, so-called Water Drop notch. The bottom chin of the OnePlus 6T is even slimmer than the OnePlus 6’s chin.
The display panel is the same as before, it is a 6.41 inches Optic AMOLED display with a smaller notch and thinner chin. The display is obviously bigger than the predecessor but also comes with a better screen to body ratio. The OnePlus 6T is a great device to consume hours of multimedia content in high quality. The display is protected by the Corning Gorilla Glass 6 and the phone is splashproof. The Mirror Black version’s glass back is also protected by Gorilla Glass 6 while the Midnight Black version has a matte finish.
It has the same alert slider as it’s predecessor but it doesn’t sport a 3.5mm audio jack. So you have to either use the bundled USB Type-C to 3.5mm adapter or USB Type C Bullets. The in-display fingerprint sensor which the company calls ‘Screen Unlock’ can unlock the phone in 0.34 seconds. It can also be used to launch apps using the customizable app shortcut.
Camera
The camera in OnePlus 6T hasn’t changed much, it comes with the similar 16MP+20MP sensors at the back with 16MP selfie shooter at the front. The OnePlus 6T sports all the flagship smartphone level technology like f/1.7 aperture size, OIS and the HDR mode which makes the camera a flagship competitor.
The camera comes with some cool features which are built in via the software implementation. OnePlus has added a new camera mode called “NightScape” which takes better pictures in the low light conditions. All other features like the slo-mo mode, HDR, 4K at 60fps video recording are still there.
Performance
The OnePlus 6 is equipped with the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset which is paired with 6GB and 8GB RAM. The smartphone comes with a new boost mode which launches apps even faster than traditional smartphones running Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset. The Smart Boost technology improves app start time to 5 to 20% by storing data from frequently used apps in the RAM.
The performance on the OnePlus 6T has been improved via some software optimizations in the Oxygen OS. The new Oxygen OS 9 is built on the latest Android 9 Pie for the best compatibility and speed you need. The OnePlus 6T also comes with a bigger 3700 mAh battery which is a massive upgrade over the OnePlus 6.
