Earlier this month, OnePlus had announced the OxygenOS Open Beta for OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T which were based on the latest Android 8.1 Oreo release. Now, the company has announced the stable update for both the flagships that will bring Android Oreo 8.1 which comes with new optimizations and fixes. The latest OxygenOS update also brings the OnePlus 5T’s security patch to April 2018. With the update, the launcher for both the smartphones has also been tweaked and it now displays category tags in the app drawer search section. The update weighs 766 MB in size and it will be rolled out in a few days for all the users.

The first and most notable change of the latest OxygenOS update is, it has updated the OnePlus 5 and the 5T to Android 8.1 Oreo. It has also updated the Android security patch to April 2018. The update brings many changes to gaming mode and has also added some new optimizations including power saving and pausing adaptive brightness. Another notable feature of the update is, that it has added full-screen gesture support for the OnePlus 5T. In the Launcher, the update has added category tags in the search section of the app drawer. It also adds auto name folders based on category and it will automatically name the folders based on category. This is an OTA update and like always, will be incremental, so, the OTA will be rolled out for all OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T users in a few days.
