“The premium mobile experiences of the future will extend beyond traditional features and functionality and be defined by devices that have the ability to learn and adapt to the needs of the user,”, Stated Cristiano Amon, a Qualcomm co-president. He further stated that the Zeroth platform will not just be limited to smartphones, but also pour on to smartwatches and cars. The Qualcomm Zeroth platform is a mix of hardware and software engineering and comes with Qualcomm’s newest processor – the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820. It is basically, Qualcomm’s effort to make your device better at computing. In layman’s terms, Qualcomm is trying to replicated artificial intelligence on smartphone. The company claims that Zeroth can help in creating more natural interactions with phones, for e.g. easy search for photos and videos, autonomously finding Wi-Fi connections and behavioural analysis to make your device more secure. As for the Snapdragon 820, it will be running a new 64-Bit chipset called Kryo instead of the traditionally used ARM chips. At the event, Qualcomm also unveiled its 3D fingerprint reading technology – Sense ID, which will let a smartphone scan a print through cover glass, stainless steel, aluminium and sapphire. It might give device makers a bigger range of materials to work with. There is little hope that we will see this technology in 2015, since device makers will only be able to lay their hands on Snapdragon 820 later this year.
