At this price segment, Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime is one of the closest competitor of this device. Both comes with lot of similarities and differences. So lets have a look on each departments.

Design & Build
Lenovo has gone for all metal design this time around which is a nice thing to see. Here both the smartphones come with metal unibody design. Both phones are built well and feel premium.
Galaxy J7 Prime comes with rounded edges whereas Moto M comes with chamfered edges which looks a little better. However both devices have rounded corners and both feel pretty comfortable to hold. Both phones have got almost same dimensions and also sport the same thickness.
Both the phones come with a fingerprint sensor but the placement is different on both the devices. Moto M has it on the back whereas Galaxy J7 Prime has it on the front. Even the speaker placement on both devices are different. Moto M has a front firing speaker whereas Galaxy J7 Prime has it on the top right edge. The Moto M also has IP68 certification, which makes it dust and water resistant, which is a huge advantage Galaxy J7 Prime.
Display
Both the phones sport a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080p) IPS LCD display and Corning Gorilla Glass protection. The pixel densities of both the devices are the same at ~401 PPI. There is not a much of a difference between both the displays. Colour reproduction and sunlight visibility is about the same on the two phones.
Camera
Galaxy J7 Prime comes with a lower 13MP rear camera with f/1.9 aperture and single LED flash. Moto M comes with a 16MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture, PDAF, auto HDR and single LED flash. Both the phones come with an 8 MP front camera for selfies and video calling. Talking of camera, Moto M takes the lead with higher pixel size and PDAF although there won’t be much of a difference as Galaxy J7 Prime has also a pretty good camera.
Battery
Coming to the battery, the Galaxy J7 Prime is backed by a 3300 mAh battery while the Moto M comes with a 3050 mAh battery. Although having a slightly lower capacity battery, Moto M comes with fast charging support which is absent on Galaxy J7 Prime. On the other hand, Galaxy J7 Prime comes with a S Power Planning mode which extends the battery life.
Hardware, Memory And Software
Moto M runs on an octa-core MediaTek Helio P15 chip-set which is clocked at 2.2 GHz whereas Galaxy J7 Prime runs on a an octa-core Exynos 7870 chip-set. Helio P15 on Moto M is considerably better as compared to Exynos 7870 on Galaxy J7 Prime. Performance will definitely be better on Moto M when it comes to day to day usage or playing high end games. Talking about memory, Moto M comes in either 32 GB variant with 3GB of RAM or 64 GB variant with 4GB of RAM whereas Galaxy J7 Prime comes with 16GB memory and 3GB of RAM. Moto M runs on stock Android 6.0 Marshmallow whereas Galaxy J7 Prime runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with TouchWiz UI on top. While TouchWiz is highly customizable, it comes with a lot of bloat and is not very RAM friendly.
Additional Facts
Moto M has NFC connectivity, while Galaxy J7 Prime does not have it. Moto M comes with USB C-type port while Galaxy J7 Prime comes with micro USB port. Moto M comes with Dolby Atmos sound whereas Galaxy J7 Prime does not. Galaxy J7 Prime comes with a dedicated micro-SD card slot whereas Moto M uses SIM card slot 2 for memory expansion.
Pricing & Availability
The Galaxy J7 Prime is currently being sold at Rs. 16,000 through online and offline channels. The Moto M has been priced starting at Rs. 15,999 for the 3 GB / 32 GB version while the 4 GB / 64 GB version has been priced at Rs. 17,999. The phone will be available exclusively on Flipkart starting on December 14.
Conclusion
Both devices offer a good set of features and sport a really good build and design. But Moto M has got better processor, better camera, better memory and a better UI. Additionally Moto M is more reliable when it comes to future updates where as Samsung lacks such thing specially with mid segment devices. Moto M is also cheaper out of the two and offers more value for money.
