Motorola today unveiled the King of all budget Android phones, Moto G priced at only $179 for 8 GB and $199 for 16 GB versions. This phone has been designed to take on Markets like India which are filled with yesteryear hardware from Chinese rebranded phones and will be available in India from January 2014.

The phone will sport 4.5 inch LCD display with 720p HD resolution which shoots the pixel density up to 329 ppi. Needless to say, you won’t see any resolved pixels. The display is also protected by Corning Gorilla glass 3 which makes it extremely resistant to abuse. For further resistance the insides of the phone are also coated with water resistant nano coating. On the software front this phone runs on Android 4.3 jelly bean operating system which is “guaranteed” to receive Android KitKat update by January 2014. The phone weighs 143 grams and you can choose from various colors, including black, white, dark and light blue, pink, yellow and red to rock on the back panel. The phone will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chipset with 1.2 GHz Quad core processor (Cortex A7  based cores, not Krait cores) backed by Adreno 305 GPU and 1 GB RAM. Apart from the 8 GB and 16 GB onboard storage, you will also get 50 GB of storage on Google Drive for 2 years.

The camera has a 5 MP sensor along with LED flash support. Other features include 4x digital zoom, slow motion video, burst mode, auto HDR, panorama, tap-to-focus. The Front camera of 1.3 MP is also present for video calling. Both of these cameras are capable of 720p HD video recording at 30 fps.

The non removable battery has capacity of 2070 mAh and Motorola claims this will provide an all-day battery life and 33 percent more talk time than the iPhone 5S on 3G networks. Connectivity features include Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi, GLONASS and GPS. The phone will give you more than what you could ask for at this price range and, to quote Motorola CEO, Dennis Woodside, “would give you a premium experience.” Motorola will also provide with accessories like JBL Bluetooth speakers, flip covers and colored protective cases. This phone is a low cost version of Moto X and the first phone from Motorola after Google’s acquisition to come in India. It will be available in India from January next year for a price of around 11,000 INR for 8 GB and 12,000 INR for 16 GB. The custom duties might also shoot the price up but it is expected tosettle around 15K mark.
