Display and Processor

The Micromax Canvas Knight gets a 5 inch full HD display with a pixel density of 441 ppi and it is a pretty bright unit to look at and produces some really good colours for a sub Rs 20,000 device. Moto G on the other hand gets a 4.5 inch screen with a 720p resolution and a pixel density of 326ppi with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on top for added protection. Both of them look pretty good but the Canvas Knight looks better. This is one area where the Canvas Knight comes out shining. It gets a Mediatek MT6592T 2GHz Octa Core processor coupled with a 2GB RAM which is a way better performer than the 1.2 GHz quad core Snapdragon 400 unit of the Moto G which is joined in by a 1GB RAM

Camera and Internal Storage

The Canvas Knight gets a  16MP rear camera with a Largan M8 lens for sharper and better image quality. An 8MP secondary does the duty for getting self portraits and video calling done. Moto G gets a 5MP rear camera and a 1.3MP front camera. The Moto G comes second in this regard as the Canvas Knight gets a better camera unit. Internal storage is one arena where the Moto G struggles in front of the Canvas Knight. It gets two variants: one with 8GB and one with 16GB with no expandable storage whereas the Canvas Knight gets a 32GB variant only with no expandable storage as well.

Battery and Operating System

The Micromax Canvas Knight has a 2,350 mAh battery unit under the hood which the company claims will offer 175 hours of standby time and 7.5 hours of talk time but in real world conditions, it will last a little less than a day. Moto G on the other hand will last a little over a day in real world conditions. The Canvas Knight runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and might get an upgrade as well in future. The Moto G runs on Android 4.4 KitKat and will get software support from Motorola for a while as well. But in this regard, we trust Motorola more than we trust Micromax so we’ll have to give this one to Moto G.

Conclusion

The Moto G is pretty much the best sub Rs 15,000 smartphone and if you can stretch your budget a bit, the Canvas Knight won’t disappoint you. The Micromax device provides immense value for money and to some extent, it is indeed worth the price difference. But you wouldn’t be at fault if you choose either of them.
