Not only that, the Micromax Canvas Doodle comes not with a Mediatek processor, but a Qualcomm quad core processor, which makes its debut in the Canvas range.
As seen in the picture above, the phone does not look like any of the previous iterations from the Canvas series, nor does it look like a Samsung rip-off. The phone looks quite slim but is not among the slimmest at 9.7mm, and also weighs a hefty 168g.
Cameras:
The Canvas Doodle comes with the same camera configuration as the other Canvas phone with released today – the Canvas 2 Plus, which means there will be an 8MP rear with dual LED flash and a 2MP front for video calling. The cameras on the Canvas 2 weren’t great performers, we hope Micromax has rectified their cameras for good. Being a budget phone costing under 13,000 INR, Micromax have done a pretty good job including these cameras, what’s left to be seen is the real-life performance.
Processor and Battery:
The USP of this phone is that it comes with a Snapdragon processor, gives the Mediatek a ditch. Not in anyway is the Mediatek processor bad, but way too many phones come with the same hardware and thus a change from that seems good. Having said that, let us also let you know that the Qualcomm MSM8225Q Snapdragon is based on the outdated Cortex A5 architecture – you might want to lower your expectations with the processing power of this device. The battery is a standard Lithium Ion 2100mAh unit, and should take you through a work day pretty easily. It should be at par with other smartphones when it comes to battery life.
Display type and Size:
The Canvas Doodle is a device which comes under the phablet category, thanks to the 5.3 inch display. The screen is quite big, but the resolution isn’t great; only FWVGA (854×480) with a 5.3 inch screen. This means that the pixel density will be a paltry 185ppi, which sounds like a thing of the past now. Micromax certainly should’ve gone with a better display for the Canvas Doodle, buyers wouldn’t want to see their doodles getting pixelated. This certainly wasn’t expected by us at least from Micromax. They should’ve gone with an HD or at least a qHD display, given the current average in the market. Let us wait and see how the device fares in the market.
Key Features And Specifications:
Conclusion And Price:
The device looks fresh, has a processor from Qualcomm, and comes with a nice price tag. But what might break the deal for most is the low resolution 5.3 inch screen, but apart from the the phone is a winner. People who don’t mind a low pixel density can surely go for the phone, and it comes with its own advantages – it will be very less taxing on the GPU and the device will respond very fast. The Micromax Canvas Doodle A111 is priced at 12,999 INR, and can be bought from the Micromax e-store.
