The South Korean electronics giant is going to unveil the LG V30 on August 31, 2017, at the IFA in Berlin. The LG V30 is the successor of the last year’s LG V20. It will come with some significant improvements over its predecessor. The LG V30 will feature a bigger screen size but come with a smaller body than the V20. Also, the upper and lower bezels have been reduced by 20% and 50% respectively in comparison to the V20. The LG logo is moved from front to the back of the phone.

After several earlier leaks, it was known it will feature OLED display with a 2:1 aspect ratio. The phone has also been spotted on Geekbench recently. It revealed that the device would come with Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC, 4GB RAM and the latest Android version. LG plans to extend its OLED technology expertise from the premium TV sector into the smartphone industry. The LG V30 will be the first to feature the plastic OLED display. “Expertise in OLED has long been a core competency of LG, and the technology has always been seen as a potential value-add for smartphones,” said Juno Cho, president of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. LG’s FullVision display with the OLED panel will provide immersive and expansive visual experience. As it is further enhanced on the QHD+ (1440 x 2880 pixels) screen. OLED technology offers superb image quality that is achieved by perfect colors with accuracy across a wide spectrum. That is why many premium handsets are moving to OLED panels such as the iPhone 8. “With competition in the global smartphone space fiercer now than ever, we felt that this was the right time to reintroduce OLED displays in our mobile products.” Said Cho further. Also, the screen in the upcoming LG V30 will be based on plastic OLED technology, also known as P-OLED. Moreover, the display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. Apart from the V30, the company has also announced the LG Q6 series recently. To recall, the Q6 series is supposed to be the first in the mid-range category to feature minimal bezels and full HD FullVision display.
