By next month, LG Spirit will be challenging phones like Moto G 2nd Gen in India. LG showcased the device as part of its new mid range portfolio in India today. The handset is a compact version of LG Magna, thus offering more compact form factor.

Design, Build and Display
LG Spirit has the same curved back design, and a smaller 4.7 Inch IPS LCD display. The curves are less noticeable on LG Spirit. It appears to be a solidly built device, which can stand a few drops. The same brushed metal look and Rear Key are present on Spirit, though the rear key loses its rugged texture.
The 4.7 Inch IPS LCD display with 720p HD resolution is same in quality as LG Magna. Display quality is similar to LG Magna. Viewing angles are ok but not great. Display brightness, colors and sharpness appeared decent at first glance.
Processor and RAM
LG is using 1.2 GHz quad core processor with 1 GB Ram, same as Magna. Since this will be available for significantly lower price, the chipset seems more acceptable here. You can still find better horsepower from online exclusives and Chinese brands.
Camera and Internal Storage
Primary camera has a 5 MP sensor, with LED flash while a simple VGA camera is present on front side for basic video calling. It’s hard to expect much from the setup, but from our initial testing, it appears to be among the good 5 MP shooters that we have come across.
Internal storage is 8 GB and there is option for 32 GB microSD expansion. This sounds good enough for basic usage but isn’t outright impressive.
User Interface and Battery
User interface is Android 5.0 Lollipop based custom LG UI. The design includes all highlights of Google’s material design and other popular stock ROM features, while adding other custom features, like 4th software button, next to navigation keys to switch between SIM cards.
Battery capacity has been trimmed down to 2100 mAh. LG hasn’t provided any official stats on how long this will last and we will know better only after spending more quality time with the device.
Conclusion
Since LG Spirit will be launched among in a fiercely competitive price segment, it appears overpriced. It doesn’t give us enough reason to recommend it over already existing phones like Moto G and upcoming phones like Lenovo A7000. Go for it if you value LG Design.
