LG vice-chairman and CEO, Jo Seong-jin announced the possible delay in the launch of the LG G7 at the ECS itself. He said, “We will unveil new smartphones when it is needed. But we will not launch it just because other rivals do.” Korean website, the Investor has reported the delay in the company’s new device.
LG G7 Revamped Design
As the Korean tech giant sends its flagship device for revision, we can expect much out of the upcoming device. A company official stated, “Right after the vice chairman made the announcement at the Consumer Electronics Show last week, a direct order was sent down to the working-level officials to start over.” This indicates major design changes in the phone. Not only this, the new launch date is now tipped to be “released around the Lunar New Year holiday next month.” While this is all about the launch delay of the device, we can expect the company’s mid-range flagship to come with improved specifications for sure. For starters, the LG G7 could sport slimmer bezels, possibly cover the chin of the phone with the display. It is speculated to be packing a Dual front-facing camera setup, which could be used for Iris Recognition. In terms of hardware, a Snapdragon 845 SoC is expected to power the flagship. Other than this device, the company is tipped to change their marketing and device-naming tactics. It is now expected to tone down on the lineup, as well as rename and rebrand the LG smartphones. The fate of the LG G7 also hangs with the company’s future decision.
