Lenovo Vibe Z2 Hands on Video Review
Design, Display and Build
Lenovo Vibe Z2 pro is a very well crafted plastic device but feel very premium, exactly like a flagship should. The red color ascent on the camera adds to the looks, but we are not big fans of how the rear side looks. At the front, Lenovo has done a good job shaving off both vertical and horizontal bezels, but the phone is still too big to comfortably hold and operate in one hand.
The 6 inch Quad HD display is extremely crisp with nice colors and viewing angles. Slim bezels further add to its appeal and if you are comfortable with large sized displays, you have a lot to look forward to with Lenovo Vibe Z2.
Processor and RAM
The processor used is Snapdragon 801 quad core clocked at 2.5 GHz with Adreno 330 GPU. The chipset has been a part of all high end 2014 flagships from tier one manufacturers and can handle added Quad HD resolution pretty well.
In spite of the extra pixels which have to be pushed on the wide display, we didn’t observe any lag in the device. Since the smartphone is loaded with 3 GB RAM (around 1 GB Free on first boot), we are optimistic that this will remain unchanged in the long run.
Camera and Internal Storage
There is a 16 MP rear unit in Lenovo Vibe Z2 which can directly capture shots with 16:9 aspect ratio. This makes clicked images favorable to view on your HDTV and large monitors, most of which follow the same aspect ratio. The camera comes with optical image stabilization and in our initial testing camera managed to capture some good low light shots. The 5 MP selfie shooter is also pretty decent in quality.
The internal storage is 32 GB and Lenovo didn’t make room for the SD card. out of 32 GB only around 19 GB is available at user end. This could be a deal breaker for many users.
User Interface and Battery
Android 4.4.2 Kitkat is covered with Lenovo Vibe ROM which can be considered heavy customization. There is no default app drawer and the icons don’t look hideous. There are plenty of handy options and toggles and the UI is quite vibrant. In case you don’t like the custom UI, the phone comes with a Google Mode. When you select Google Mode, the phone reboots to stock android. A secure mode is also present which doesn’t display any activity (except call logs and stored contacts) to other users.
Lenovo has used a huge 4000 mAh battery inside, which can also be considered mandatory considering extra pixels which the smartphone has to power. Lenovo claims 3 days of active battery life and that’s a tall claim which we can trust only after we have spent more time with the device.

Conclusion
Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro strikes as impressive device and the 6 inch Quad HD display deserves major credit for the same. Since the display size is towards the phablet end of the spectrum, its not meant for those who prefer small and compact smartphones. We also know that Motorola will soon unleash the next Nexus Shamu with similar 6 Inch Quad HD display, expectedly in the same price bracket, but Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro packs enough might to stand it ground. Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro flaunts attractive design and powerful hardware internals, exactly like a flagship is meant to.
