Lenovo launched Vibe X, a mid range Android phone, at IFA 2013 in Berlin, Germany. This phone is powered by Mediatek turbo processor and is expected to hit Indian market in December at the end of this year. This phone is refreshing at least on paper, because it breaks the stagnation of MT6589 with 1GB RAM and 4 GB storage combo. Let’s take a look at the specifications of this smartphone.
Camera and Internal Storage
The primary camera in this smartphone is 13 MP and that’s the maximum a turbo chipset from Mediatek can support. The front camera is 5 MP and will be used for self portraits and video calling. The camera combination is pretty good and as far as the Megapixel count goes, it is most you can expect from Mid range devices. The internal Storage breaks the mold of 4 GB and Lenovo has provided with 16 GB of internal storage on this smartphone. This will result in more free space to download your apps. A 32 GB variant will also be available, but the Internal Storage is not extendable.
Processor and Battery
The processor is MediaTek MT6589T turbo Quad core processor clocked at 1.5 GHz. This processor is supported by PowerVR SGX 544MP GPU to further aid you in your gaming. This processor is backed by 2 GB RAM and will ensure smooth UI transitions and multi-tasking. The battery capacity is 2000 mAh which is pretty less considering the full HD display and quad core processor. Similar battery limitations were seen in Intex Aqua i7 which poses similar specifications. The battery capacity might limit your experience and thus you will have to carry a portable charger with you if you wish to last through the day with medium to high usage.
Display and Features
The display of this smartphone is 5 Inch in size and has full HD 1080 p resolution thus giving you a pixel density of 441 ppi. In practical life not much difference is visible in HD and Full HD display but , their dose exist a difference which will continue to attract smartphone enthusiasts towards bigger better displays. On the software front this phone features Android 4.2 Jelly bean Operating System. No software tweak or other feature has been mentioned in this smartphone. The display will sport Corning Gorilla glass 3 protections making it resistant to mechanical abuse.
Looks and Connectivity
This smartphone looks quite premium and is made of fine finish polycarbonate body. It is quite sleek at 6.9 mm thickness and weighs only 120 grams. The body design will help it score over the competition from domestic manufacturers. Connectivity features include 3G HSPA+, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPRS and A-GPS
Comparison
This phone boasts of a very powerful specs combination amidst the mid range devices. It will be competing with phones like Intex Aqua i7, Sony Xperia C, iOcean X7 and JiaYu G4 Advanced.
Key Specifications
Needless to say the specifications are quite impressive. The 2 GB RAM and Quad core processor will ensure smooth and speedy performance. The pricing might be an issue, but if Lenovo manages to keep the price around 20 to 22,000 INR, this phone this phone is expected to be readily excepted considering the present scenario.
