Lenovo K3 Note Hands on Quick Review [Video]

Design and build

As mentioned, Lenovo K3 Note looks exactly like Lenovo A7000. The 5.5 Inch IPS LCD display however is noticeably sharper with denser 1080p full HD resolution and looks delicious bordered by those narrow bezels. The capacitive keys underlining the display are still not backlit.

The handset is slim and light with soft touch back, metallic keys on the right, ports (MicroUSB and audio jack) on top and speaker grill at the back. You can pop out the back cover and insert, MicroSD card and Dual SIM cards. It slim and sturdy and feels like a unibody phone, but offers advantages of a removable back cover too.

Lenovo also showcased a limited edition variant, which had a ceramic circular back plate housed on the rear side. The packaging box, which comes with the device, has a slot where you can place the ceramic plate and the empty box then doubles as an amplifier.

Processor and RAM

K3 Note has the same MT6752 64 bit octa core processor with all 8 cortex A53 cores clocked at 1.7 GHz. The chipset is extremely powerful and is aided with 2 GB RAM. This is the same combination as in A7000, but this time the Mali T760 MP2 GPU inside will have to fire more pixels on the display – a task which it’s comfortably up to.

Camera and Internal storage

Lenovo k300 has a 13 MP rear camera with large Omni vision sensor, large pixels and wide aperture 5p lens layered on top. In our initial testing, in less than ideal lighting, it feels like an improvement over A7000, though not a massive one. That’s ok because A7000 camera wasn’t bad for the price at all. It is still too soon to pass on any verdict, but those who steered off A7000 for its “8” MP camera will have no qualms about considering K3 Note

Internal storage too has been increased to 16 GB and this is an admirable improvement that shall help sustainperformance in the long run

User Interface and Battery

The Android lollipop based vibe UI is something we have experienced before. There is no app drawer by default, but there is no dearth of customization options and handy features. This is one of those Android skin which doesn’t make us want to throw up. Lenovo also provides consistent updates so this won’t be a problem

Battery capacity is 3000 mAh with rated 750 hours of standby time and 46 hours of 3G talktime. Again, we will have to spend more time with the battery to know how battery actually performs, but we are optimistic and you should be able to sail through your day on single charge.

Conclusion

Lenovo K3 Note is a great phone for its price. This improves upon A7000 and empowers it to compete with the best available smartphones under 10,000 INR. We are excited to spend more time with the device. Stay tuned for the full review.
