Camera and Internal Storage
The Lava Iris X1 Grand boasts of an 8 MP main camera at its back and the sensor is teamed with dual LED flash for enhanced low light performance. Also, there is a BSI sensor and support for Full HD 1080p video recording. At the front, the device packs in a 2 MP front facer that can facilitate in making video calls and in clicking selfies. Notably, these aspects make the smartphone a decent one in its price bracket. Like most of the other entry level smartphones available in the market, the Lava phone bundles 8 GB of native storage space that can be further expanded up to 32 GB with the help of a micro SD card.
Processor and Battery
The Lava Iris X1 Grand draws power from a quad core MediaTek MT6582M processor that ticks at 1.3 GHz clock speed. This processor is teamed up with 1 GB of RAM that can render moderate multi-tasking that is expected from a device of this pricing. The chipset has been used by several similar smartphones and it is known for its decent performance without much clutter. A 2,200 mAh battery energizes the Lava smartphone and it is believed to pump in moderate hours of backup to the Iris X1 Grand under mixed usage. Though it is not exceptional, this battery life should be sufficient for the pricing that the device asks.
Display and Features
The Lava phone is bestowed with a 5 inch IPS display, but it retains the low FWVGA screen resolution of 480×854 pixels as the Iris X1. Although the resolution seems to be low for such a large screen, 5 inch devices are luring consumers these days as they are spacious for basic tasks. The Iris X1 Grand is based on Android 4.4 2 KitKat and it is claimed to receive the v5.0 Lollipop update in future. There are usual connectivity aspects such as 3G, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and dual SIM support as well onboard. The vendor provides a free flip cover and smart covers along with the Iris X1 Grand and there are features including Smart Wakeup and support to gestures.
Comparison
The Lava Iris X1 Grand will be finding a tough challenge with Lenovo A6000, Xiaomi Redmi 1S, Asus Zenfone 5 8 GB, Micromax Yureka and other smartphones in the segment that pack in better specifications such as 4G connectivity. It can be a suitable competitor to the Android One smartphones that come with almost similar aspects.
