Lava has bowled another ball of its “Super Over” under which it will launch 6 devices one after another. The Domestic manufacturer has already announced Lava QPAD, Lava Iris Pro 20 and Lava Iris 550Q in India, while only hardware details have been listed for Lava Iris 450 Color and Lava Iris 406Q.
Lava Iris 406Q comes with a quad core processor ticking at 1.2 GHz, which is no surprise as the phone bears ‘Q’ series moniker (which Lava uses for it’s Quad Core series). 1 GB RAM, 4 GB internal storage and 32 GB MicroSD support brings it at par with numerous other budget quad core already selling in Indian Market. Lava however, ships Android 4.3 Jelly bean out of the box with this phone to differentiate it from rest of the crowd. The display is only 4 inches in size with WVGA 800 X 480 pixels amounting to 233 pixels per inches, which is usable on this form factor. Lava has chosen to go with a rather small display on its quad core offering and that’s again a different approach, but it’s hard to say if it will gain acceptance in Indian market where most consumers aim for a bigger device. The Dual SIM Lava Iris 406Q features 5 MP auto focus rear camera with LED flash support and a modest 0.3 MP shooter at the back. The body casing is also quite thick at 10.5 mm and houses a 1700 mAh battery. Lava has not disclosed the price yet. The phone will be available in Black and White colour variants pretty soon. As you would have noticed, Lava has coupled specs which we see in dual core devices with a quad core chipset. If Lava manages to restrict the pricing to around 8,000 INR, it might just work for the company.
