Karbonn Titanium Octane Plus Hands on Quick Review, Features, Camera, Software and Overview [Video]

Design and Build

The Karbonn Titanium Octane Plus features a plastic body design, with rubberized finish back cover. The plastic is of good quality and certainly feels much better than Karbonn Titanium Octane, its trimmed down variant and feels lot more plastic-ky. Weight seems well balanced and the device felt comfortable to hold in one hand.

The display wasn’t a highlight of this device. The LTPS display of Karbonn Titanium Hexa launched today was definitely better and more vibrant as compared to the 5 inch full HD IPS LCD display of Titanium Octane Plus. Karbonn has also not specified any protection on the display. Karbonn mentioned a self healing coating on the back panel for resistance against minor scratches.

Camera and Internal Storage

The rear camera features 16 MP sensor which performed better as compared to 13 MP shooter in Titanium Hexa. The 13 MP camera unit in Karbonn Titanium Hexa was above average but outperformed by Octane in low light shots that we compared. In practical life there won’t be much difference between these two.

The internal storage is 16 GB and can be extended to 32 GB using microSD card slot. That doesn’t leave anything to complain about for both moderate and heavy users.

Battery, OS and Chipset

The battery capacity is 2000 mAh and that certainly doesn’t feel right. Yes, battery backup is not solely dependent on the mAh rating, but comparing this to other Full HD octa core chipset devices out there, doen’t give any optimistic assurance either. However, the good news is that the battery is removable.

The operating system is Android 4.4 Kitkat and is mostly stock android. The chipset used is Mediatek elite 1.7 GHz MT6592 octa core processor with 2 GB RAM and Mali 450 MP4 GPU, and will provide you with all the processing prowess that you require for basic day to day tasks and some more.

Conclusion

Karbonn Titanium Octane plus comes with a modest price tag of Rs. 17,990. Karbonn has not specified any protective coating on the IPS LCD display and OTG is also not specified unlike Titanium Hexa. Another downside is the 2000 mAh battery. If you ignore the build quality, the internals are similar to Titanium Octane selling for 14,490 INR. The rubberized finish body casing did feel quite premium. Overall a good octa core smartphone with modest price tag, but nothing special to stand apart from the competition.
