Camera and Internal Storage

At the back of the device is a 5 MP camera with LED flash for enhanced low light performance. The camera is complemented by a basic VGA front snapper that facilitates in making video calls and self portrait shots. For the pricing of the handset, we cannot expect to have too many photography oriented features. The internal storage of the Karbonn Opium N7 stands at 4 GB which can be expanded by another 32 GB with the help of a micro SD card. We would definitely like at least 8 GB of storage, but considering its pricing it should not be an issue.

Processor and Battery

The Karbonn Opium N7 comes with a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor of unknown chipset and it teams up with a paltry 512 MB of RAM that will handle moderate levels of multi-tasking. Though these are not superior, we do not expect anything great from an entry-level smartphone, A 1,600 mAh battery is present inside the smartphone and through we do not have the specific backup details, it is clear that this battery cannot keep the phone functioning for long hours.

Display and Features

The display unit is a 4 inch one which is an IPS panel having a resolution of 480×800 pixels. Being an average one, the IPS technology will enhance the color reproduction to some extent and render acceptable viewing angles. The device runs on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and comes packed with standard connectivity options such as 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS.

Comparison

The handset will compete with Micromax Canvas Unite A092, Lava Iris 406Q and Micromax Canvas Engage A091.

This handset is ideal for those feature phone upgraders who do not want to burn a hole on their pockets.
