The first smartphone to feature the new EMUI 5.0 out of the box is the Honor 8 Lite, which was revealed in February. Later, the EMUI 5.0 update will be rolled out to Honor 8, Honor 6X, Honor 5C and Huawei P9. EMUI 5.0 was made available for Huawei Mate 9 at the time of its launch last year. The company’s US arm has already confirmed that the Honor 6X has started receiving the update as well.

The new custom ROM is backed with machine learning, which is capable of learning user’s usage habits and allocates resources accordingly, which results in optimal RAM management of the phone. This helps in smooth performance of the phone for longer durations. “Based on the next-level machine learning mechanisms, EMUI 5 assigns resources dramatically to offer more CPU and memory to the applications which are used on a regular basis.”

In terms of gaming performance, Huawei claims that EMUI 5.0 makes use of technologies that improves the graphics and display properties to initiate instant picture display with no black and white squares even while scrolling through the Gallery. With the new UI, a user also gets ‘Privacy Space’ that switches access using a revamped fingerprint technology. It also offers cloud-based dynamic and static antivirus with a local antivirus and scans hyperlinks in SMS on a real-time basis that results in improved security.” According to the company, a user can reach to 90 percent of the core functions in just two to three clicks. In addition to this, a user can also jump between their professional and personal lives effortlessly with profiles now able to run in parallel. The new EMUI 5.0 will also support 14 Indian languages which include Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Punjabi, Gujarati, Bengali, Marathi, Hindi, Assamese, Malayalam, Oriya, Nepali, Urdu, and Maithili.
