Camera and Internal Storage

Camera remains same 13 MP unit as in Desire 820 and other Desire 8xx smartphones. In our initial testing, we liked the camera quality. The camera can record 1080p full HD videos and is accompanied by LED flash for low light photography. Front 8 MP shooter is also suitable for good quality selfies. Internal storage is 16 GB and you can further use 128 GB of secondary MicroSD card storage. At this price, we have no gripe with the storage options offered by Desire 820q.

Processor and Battery

Chipset is what differentiates Desire 820 from 820q. While the Deisre 820 employs Snapdragon 615 64 bit octa core SoC based on big.LITTLE architecture, the desire 820q uses quad core Snapdragon 410. Snapdragon 410 is 64 bit equivalent of Snapdragon 400 (Desire 816) with 4 cortex A53 cores clocked at 1.2 GHz and assisted by Adreno 306 GPU. The 64 bit chipset will be faster and more efficient than its 32 bit counterpart. On paper this sounds good enough to smoothly handle heavy lifting. Battery capacity is 2600 mAh which is again above average. We are eager to test how much difference 64 bit computing will make with regards to battery backup in this one.

Display and Other Features

Display is 5.5 inch bright SLCD2 unit with 1280X720 HD resolution, which worked pretty well on Desire 816. We expect no less of from 267 ppi display in 64 bit variant of the same. The handset will be more suitable for those who like phablet sized displays. Operating system is Android 4.4 Kitkat based HTC Sense UI 6.0 for rich android experience. Other features include 4G LTE / 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11a/b/g/n (2.4 & 5 GHz), Bluetooth 4.0 with aptX, GPS and dual SIM functionality.
