Consequently, a viewer on YouTube can no longer see how many times a particular video has been disliked. For users, it is an important metric as some users use the metric to judge the quality of the video contents to decide if the video is worth their time.   In this article, I will show you step-by-step how you can get back the dislike count of any video on YouTube in a browser on both desktop and Android. Let’s first discuss the desktop solution.

On a desktop with Google Chrome

To be able to see the number of dislikes for YouTube videos on a desktop, you will have to use a Google Chrome Extension called Return YouTube Dislike. Let’s do this step-by-step. Step 1: Launch Google Chrome and navigate to any YouTube video. You will notice that the dislike button is not showing any stats.

Step 2: Open a new tab and visit the page of Return YouTube Dislike extension in the Chrome Web Store and add it to the Chrome browser.

Step 3: Refresh the YouTube video page in step 1 and now you will be able to see the number of dislikes of any video on YouTube.

On Android using Kiwi browser

On Android, you will have to use another Google Chrome Extension called KellyC Return YouTube Dislike. But since the Android version of Google Chrome does not support extensions, first we will need to install a browser that supports Google Chrome Extensions. One such browser is the Kiwi browser. Go ahead, download and install the kiwi browser first from Google Play Store and then follow the following steps.  Step 1: Launch the Kiwi browser and navigate to your favorite video on YouTube. You will notice that the dislike button is there but without any stats. Step 2: Tap on the three vertical dots in the upper left corner in Kiwi to open the main menu. Step 3: In the menu, tap on the “Extensions” option to display the extensions page. Step 4: On this page tap on the three horizontal lines in the upper left corner of the screen. Step 5: Now tap on the “Open Chrome Web Store” option towards the end in the lower left of the screen to open the Google Chrome Web Store.

Step 6: In the search box of the Google Chrome Web Store type “KellyC Return YouTube Dislike” to search for the required extension. Step 7: In the search result tap on the required extension to select it. Step 8: On the “KellyC Return YouTube Dislike” page tap on the blue “Add to Chrome” button to install the extension in Kiwi.

Step 9: Once the installation is complete refresh your YouTube page in Kiwi and now you would be able to see in the Kiwi browser the dislike count for all YouTube videos.

Conclusion

Google no longer displays publically the number of dislikes of YouTube videos but it might be a very useful statistic for some users. In this article, I have shown how you can view the number of dislikes of a YouTube video with the help of Google Chrome extensions on both PC and Android. It is important to note first that not all extensions for this purpose on the Google Chrome Web Store seem to work.
