Interestingly, the solution to fix the problem was rather simple. If you are also dealing with push notification ads, then below I’ll show you how to find the app showing push notification ads and disable it.

Disable notification bar ads

First, I should clarify that push notification ads are legal and many apps are adopting this method of ads. However, it’s a problem when the app hides or doesn’t give an easy way to disable this feature. The below instructions will help you detect regular and rogue ads that show ads in the notification bar. Next time when an ad shows up in the notification bar, tap and hold on it. This will either open the app notification settings or an “App info” icon will pop up to access the app details. Now you should be able to see the name of the app and options to manage its notifications. If you only want to stop the ads, tap on “Block all” button and all the notifications from this app will be disabled (including the ones containing ads).

If you want to uninstall the app instead, then you’ll have to manually access it and uninstall it. Just go to “Settings” and then tap on “Apps”. Here open up the culprit app and tap on “Uninstall” to get rid of it. I should also mention that in my case it was an app called “Patchsystem”, which is a system app that can’t be uninstalled. If a system app is the cause of notification bar ads in your phone as well, then in the “Apps” section tap on the menu button at the top-right corner and tap on “Show System”. Now open up the system app that is causing the problem and tap on “Disable” to prevent it from working.

Conclusion

Seeing ads in the notification bar is very annoying, especially when they arrive when you are expecting an important message instead. Thankfully, getting rid of them is as simple as tapping and holding on the notification and disabling it. If you have any questions, let us know in the comments below.
