The Xpress-on trademark was classified as accessories for the communication apparatus like microphones, speakers, colored casing and housing, batteries and wall chargers. This new trademark which HMD Global acquired is valid till 2028 which means that the company will likely sell cases under this brand.
HMD Global has also acquired the “Asha” trademark from Nokia which got transferred to the company on January 10th. Nokia had used the Asha brand for launching budget-friendly feature phones in India. After Nokia, Microsoft acquired this brand and discontinued it as Microsoft had released some entry-level Lumia smartphones. It seems that HMD Global will again manufacture some budget-friendly smartphones and will sell them under the Asha brand. Speculations are that company is already planning to release some low cost 4G enabled feature phones to compete with the JioPhone and other manufacturers such as Intex and Micromax. Recently, HMD Global launched the 4G variant of the Nokia 3310 which is the revamped version of the Nokia 3310. This smartphone will be running the YunOS, which is a forked version of the Android OS. It features a 2.4 inch QVGA color display, 256MB RAM and 512MB storage. It further features a 2MP primary camera with LED flash and connectivity options like 4G VoLTE, micro USB port, Wi-FI and Bluetooth 4.0. It is powered by a 1,200mAh battery.
