Make columns in Google Docs
You don’t need any third-party tools to make this work, all can be done right inside Google Docs. Just follow the below instructions to create the columns: Highlight all the content that you want to turn into columns. The formatting changes won’t affect content that isn’t highlighted. Now click on the “Format” menu at the top and hover your mouse cursor over the “Columns” option. You will see the option to select two or three columns.
Once you choose a columns number, the highlighted text will be divided between those columns. If there are any headings, they will be listed at the start of the first column.
If you want to further customize, click on the “More options” button in the same “Columns” option.
Here you’ll find the option to increase or decrease the space between each column. It’s 0.5 inches by default, you can change it as you please by typing the required space in inches. There is also an option to add a line between each column to separate them.
Make the columns single again
If you are interested in switching back to single column gain, then that’s easy to do too. Of course, you can always hit the Undo button in case you have just made the column changes, but if not, you can reverse the above process. Highlight the columns that you want to convert back and go to the same “Columns” option inside the “Format” menu. Here select the single column this time and everything will be reset, including any customization you may have made.
