Gionee X817 comes with a 5.7 Inch display with 720p HD display; this gives you a pixel density of 258 pixels per inch which is decent enough. This display density is slightly better than comparable Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8(190 ppi). This Display Size is in trend with many big screen devices surfacing these days recent ones including Smart NaMo Phablet, upcoming Micromax Doodle 2, Josh Thunder and ZOPO ZP990. It comes with MediaTek turbo processor MT6589T which is Quad Core processor clocked at a frequency of 1.5 GHz. With this processor it is as good as it gets. Samsung Galaxy mega 6.3 comes with a better 1.7 GHz Snapdragon 400 processor but on the other hand Gionee X817 is expected to be much less expensive. The RAM capacity is 1 GB which is a little disappointing. The internal storage memory is admirable at 16 GB and can be extended to 32 GB. The operating system of this device is Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. The camera specifications are also pretty good (at least on paper). It has 13 MP primary camera with f2.2 aperture to facilitate low light photography. The secondary camera is also quite good at 5 MP pixels which would be sufficient for Video Calling and self portraits. The battery capacity is 3200 mAh which is expected to easily carry you through the day. Battery capacity is better compared to Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8(2600 mAh) and at par with Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 (3200 mAh). Other connectivity features include Bluetooth, 3G and WIFI. Gionee has so far provided Devices with admirable specifications and built quality at competitive prices. Samsung’s upcoming note 3 will also sport a 5.7 Inch display; therefore it will work to Gionee’s advantage if it can launch a venerable product for the common man before the launch of Note 3.
