According to the report, Gionee Ctrl V5 is first in line and will receive OTA update by 6th June next month. The latest Gionee offering Elife S5.5, will be running KitKat by 12th June 2014. Elife E7 Mini will receive OTA update till 20th June, whereas Gionee P3, P4 and Gionee M2 owners will have to wait longest till July.

What’s surprising is that popular Gionee Elife E7 and Elife E6 are not a part of this list. All these smartphones feature MT6582 and MT6592 chipsets which are the new MediaTek chipset replacing last years MT6589 and MT6572 series in India. With the rumors of MediaTek releasing drivers for MT6589, MT6572 doing the rounds, we expected to see some solid progress on updates for popular phones of 2013, but for now, that doesn’t seem very likely.
