Airtel seems to be working towards offering quality video content to its subscribers as it has already been offering free live streaming of IPL 2018 matches through Airtel TV app. Now, if the report from ET is to be believed, the telco will soon be providing its users with the Netflix’s content. “Netflix and Airtel are in advanced discussions for an exclusive tie-up to offer Netflix content to Airtel mobile customers. Several rounds of discussions have been completed between the two companies and the deal could be announced in the coming weeks,” writes ET citing a source familiar with the deal.

As part of the deal, Airtel TV app users will not have to pay the Netflix subscription fee, if they access the content on the Airtel TV app. However, as per the source, while the subscription fee for Netflix will not be charged, users will still have to pay for the data consumed while streaming Netflix. “As per the discussion, the subscription fee will not be charged for Netflix as well but customers will have to pay for data that they will consume for accessing Netflix content,” the source added. Airtel and Netflix are already in a partnership, where, Netflix app is available on Airtel’s internet and direct-to-home service platforms. Netflix launched its services globally back in 2016, including India. The online streaming service provider hosts more than 125 million hours of TV shows and movies per day which includes original series, and feature films.
