Reliance Chairman Mukesh Ambani had announced on March 31 that Jio will offering the Summer Surprise Offer to Jio customers who subscribe to Jio Prime and then recharge with RC 303 or above before April 15. Under the Jio Summer Surprise Offer, the users who recharge with RC 303 or higher would get 3 months of free unlimited data, calls, SMS and premium app license. Other operators such as Airtel and Vodafone had raised objections to this.
On April 6, Jio informed its customers that TRAI has advised Jio to withdraw the 3 months complimentary offer. Jio added that the offer will be withdrawn in the next few days, as soon as operationally feasible. Jio also added that users who subscribe before the offer ends will remain eligible. The Summer Surprise Offer was available for subscription for five more days after the announcement. Airtel has objected to this delay in withdrawal of offer. Airtel has also objected that users who have subscribed will be getting the benefits. Airtel has complained about this to the Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal. TDSAT will hear about the matter on April 20. It must be remembered that users who have subscribed to the Jio Summer Surprise Offer will start enjoying its benefits from April 16 itself. Reliance Jio on April 11 unveiled the new Dhan Dhana Dhan Offer under which users can recharge with RC 309 and get 84 GB of 4G data with a validity of 84 days. This is the basic offer and there is another RC for Rs. 509 under which user will get 168 GB of 4G data with a validity of 84 days.
